Meeting Minutes, September 8, 2022
President Charlie Rohrer called the meeting to order at 7:09 PM and led us in the Pledge of Allegiance. He then led us in a moment of silence for the recently-deceased former member Ray Kuter. Treasurer Craig Marvill gave the financial report for August; the closing balance was $1464.61.
A discussion ensued about the arrangements for Ray Kuter’s funeral. It will be held on Friday, September 9th in Reisterstown Maryland. A memorial service is being planned by local first responders probably to be held at our VFW on a date to be determined. We will be invited to attend with our cars. Craig Marvill noted that donations were requested for the Childrens’ Hospital of Philadelphia in Ray’s obituary and proposed we make a $100.00 contribution in Ray’s name. This motion was seconded by Ed Plazek and was approved by all members present. A sympathy card was passed around and signed by everyone at the meeting.
President Charlie noted that our current bylaws have no mention of participation in our events to maintain membership in good standing status. It was decided that we should make an amendment to the bylaws and Bylaws Committee Chair Bill Foley will research this item and come up with suggestions for this amendment. President Charlie once again brought up the topic of whether to have an annual banquet or a potluck picnic. The membership gave unanimous approval for the picnic. On another topic, President Charlie asked for volunteers for the two shows that we are judging on Saturday, September 24th: the Knights of Columbus show in Southampton and the Oxford Rehab premier show in Langhorne. Joe Fite, Bill Foley, Ed Plazek and Dan Reiniger volunteered to judge at Southampton. Bob Genn, Craig Marvill, Frank Qualtieri and Charlie Rohrer will judge at Langhorne. Our thanks are due to these volunteers as they will raise $400.00 for our treasury through their efforts.
Nominations were held for the offices of Vice-President and Treasurer. The members unanimously nominated the incumbents Frank Qualtieri for Vice-President and Craig Marvill for Treasurer. The election will be held at the October meeting and their new two year terms will begin in January, 2023.
Activities Chair Joe Fite has planned a tour on Saturday, October 1st. Members will meet at the Upper Dublin Shopping Center at 9:15 AM and leave at 9:30 for Pottsville, PA with an estimated arrival time of 11:00-11:30. There we will tour the Yuengling Brewery, America’s oldest brewery. Tours run every half-hour and are free. Free samples are also provided. After that we will have lunch at a nearby Italian Restaurant and then tour Jerry’s Classic Cars and Collectibles Museum. Admission is $10.00, $8.00 for senior citizens. Seven members at the meeting indicated that they will attend. Contact Joe at fitey@verizon.net if you want to join the tour. Thanks to Joe for putting this tour together for the club to enjoy.
Bill Foley mentioned that Bill Marren is asking if we could move the monthly meeting night so it isn’t held the day before our monthly cruise. It was decided to revisit this at the October meeting. The 2023 meeting schedule will be drawn up in November. In upcoming events, our September cruise night is on Friday, September 9th at Justa Farm Shopping Center at 6:00 PM. President Charlie could always use help in setting up and traffic control if members could arrive early. On Saturday, September 10th there is a show at Saint Catherine of Siena Church, 321 Witmer Road (just above Dresher Rd.) Horsham, PA 19044. Show time 10:00 AM-1:00 PM. Also on the 10th the Harleysville Cruise takes place and the Kruisin’ with K9s Car show takes place at Valley Square Shopping Center from 4:00-8:00 PM. On Sunday the 11th Parx Casino will host a show. On 9/18 there is a cruise at Harrigan’s Pub. On Sunday, 10/2 Universal Motorsports will present their 21st Annual Car Show at Stenton Avenue and Washington Lane in Philadelphia Setup from 8:30 AM, show time 10:00 AM-3:00 PM, $20.00 registration day of show only.
